About Betrola

Betrola has three operating farms, one at Woodville (outside of Maitland), which is operated as a Registered Angus Stud primarily to produce bulls for the larger operations.

The two properties, Yarralee and Old Turee are run in conjunction with one another.

Across the two properties there are usually 5000 – 7000 head of cattle and a small flock of sheep.

Our Properties

Yarralee (Cassilis)

Yarralee straddles The Great Dividing Range, and is run primarily as a beef breeding operation, 2000 – 2500 Angus females are run on this property.

Yarralee being a breeding property, houses the female herd and 500 – 600 selected replacement Heifers to grow to maturity for the next breeding cycle in December.

All weaners are yard weaned and feed in pens for up to two weeks at Yarralee before shipping to Old Turee.

Cattle are moved by truck 20 kilometres to Old Turee. Here they are fattened for sale to feed lots or grass feed and sold to abattoirs as grass finished slaughter cattle.

Old Turee (Coolah)

Old Turee is approximately 4500 hectares and has 1200 hectares of highly fertile Basalt flats. Each year up to 800 hectares of cereal crops are grown, this is either oats or barley for grazing and fattening stock, in addition there is approximately 400 hectares of Lucerne used to produce hay.

The properties employ 10-12 permanent staff including a qualified mechanic/agricultural engineer. Most staff are housed in good quality accommodation either on the farm and/or others live near-by.

There is a major program of renewal of fencing, stock handling facilities, and pasture improvement with perennial pastures across both properties.
